National Take A Hike Day, Saturday November 17
Pack the parks Saturday, November 17 for National Take a Hike Day. Register for one of the group hikes at the park locations listed below.
At Farnsworth, take a hike on the Towpath Trail beside the Maumee River with Metroparks Chief of Operations Joe Fausnaugh.
Stomp through the swamp at Pearson, or explore one of the newer parks, Middlegrounds or Wiregrass Lake. There are trails to choose from close to home, wherever you reside in Lucas County.
Each trail is accessible for all ages and abilities. Free. Registration required. Click on a link to sign up.
Free Health Screenings at Wildwood
The hike at Wildwood will have an added purpose: to remember Ranger Doug Carr, who died suddenly last month from an illness. Doug spent much of his time patrolling at Wildwood, but also worked at other Metroparks and previously at the Wood County Park District. In honor of Doug, and in recognition of Diabetes Awareness Month, Mercy Health will offer free health screenings 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Metz Visitors Center.
